A flock of around a dozen waxwings has been busy eating the berries on the hawthorn hedge at the top of the allotment site for the past few days.
These welcome visitors will have probably have flown in from Scandinavia, or even as far as Russia, to feed on this year’s bumper crop of berries.
These handsome birds, with their striking crest and soft, peach-brown plumage brighten up the darkest of days and lift the spirits no matter how dull the weather.
