Container access and equipment use

The practice of allowing common use of the society’s equipment in the storage container is becoming untenable.

Equipment is being taken out, used and returned without adequate control.

There is ample evidence that this practice is resulting in equipment being returned in a dirty and sometimes broken condition, resulting in costly maintenance and repair bills.

At a  committee meeting on 14 May 2019 it was therefore agreed that access to the storage container be restricted to committee members and that equipment will only be loaned to plot holders by prior appointment.

Equipment such as strimmers and lawnmowers must in future be signed out by individual plot holders and checked back in by a committee member.

In future equipment will only be made available on condition that it is cleaned before being returned and that any damage is reported immediately.

If you have items of your own stored in the container, this must either be removed prior to the lock combination being changed or you must request a Committee member opens the container to allow you access.

The Committee regrets having had to take this action, but it comes after repeated warnings that continued misuse of equipment would lead to this.
