‘So much more than just growing food’

To celebrate this year’s National Allotments Week, The Guardian newspaper asked its readers to share pictures and stories of the bounty from their precious plots, many of which are run by local councils.

From all corners of the country they sent wonderful pictures of their produce, told how their allotments have enhanced the health and wellbeing of family, friends and community, and shared special moments of rain and shine.
