Bird boxes installed

Two bird boxes were recently installed on the site by up by Martin Calvert (Chair) of Friends of Gledhow Valley Woods.

Thanks to Martin Calvert and allotment holder Diana Hector for making this happen.   The bird boxes can be found down in the corner of the field by the horses.

Martin said that from February we can expect some birds being interested in making the boxes their nesting homes.   If successful we can look to add more boxes around the site.

The Friends of Gledhow Valley Woods (FGVW) was set up in March 1996 after a public meeting held to discuss issues in Gledhow Valley. The Friends aim is to…

  • conserve and enhance Gledhow Valley Woods (GVW)
  • protect the natural beauty of GVW
  • increase public awareness about GVW and reflect the concerns of the wider community
  • support other groups in the Gledhow Valley area
  • liaise with all appropriate organisations to achieve objectives

They are a ‘Charitable Incoporated Organisation’.   As an organisation they are always looking for any support and help people can give.  Please visit their site for more information.
