Watch out the slugs are about

This bout of rain isn’t just a welcome sight for allotment growers. The slugs and snails too are relishing this wet weather and the chance get chomping away at our produce.

But before you scatter the slug pellets too liberally, it is worth remembering that only eight or nine of the more than 40 slug species in the UK are a nuisance
